On October 17th, 2017, Lucerna Palace in Prague will host the Central European Final of the 2018 Startup World Cup. Delta Ventures, a member of the Delta Capital Group and administrator of the START IT UP! endowment fund, have just announced a new category for the event – Biotech. This category will be open to all startups specialising in healthcare, diagnostics, microbiology, molecular biology and the research and development of medical equipment and software.

The deadline for enrolment in the 2018 Startup World Cup is September 12th. All biotech startups that enrol by this date will be automatically included for selection in the Biotech Award competition. Each startup will be in with a chance of winning in two categories! The overall winner will receive an Apple package of an iPhone 7 and a MacBook Air courtesy of Delta Ventures.
Biotech Award participants will also be automatically enrolled in the 2018 Startup World Cup. The winner of the Startup World Cup will receive a trip to Silicon Valley and a $1.6 million investment.

The jury nominated by Delta Ventures is made up of both investment group representatives and leading medical specialists.

GG is returning to Prague

START IT UP! Endowment Fund supports the largest beneficial e-sports tournament GG Prague 2017 (Game 4 Good) held 27th to 28th May 2017. It builds on the success of the last year, when over 350 people from among start-ups, technology companies and general public visited the venue, on the live stream it was watched by 28,240 viewers. During the event, CZK 83,800 was collected for which twelve X-boxes with accessories have been bought and distributed by Jonášek Foundation to the children’s wards of hospitals.
The second year event will take two days. The first day, matches will be played in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. For Sunday a novelty was prepared - a tournament in one of the most popular games in the world: Hearthstone.

Czechs succeeded in the European Grand Finals of the contest CESAwards

The Central European Startup Awards (CESAwards) is the Central-European region’s biggest no-pitch, no-conference startups festival has announced the most affluent startups and ecosystem supporters, on the 1st of December, 2016 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Central European Startup Awards is part of the Global Startup Awards network, working closely in 4 regions, the Nordics and Central-Europe in Europe and in South East Asia and India in the Asian region.

START IT UP !, Endowment Fund, the organizer of the Czech final of the international contest CENTRAL EUROPEAN STARTUP AWARDS 2016 sent to the European Grand finals 11 Czech startups: Jihomoravské inovační centrum., Daatrics, Paper Hub, GREYCORTEX , Dateio,, Andrej Kiska, Techambition,, Lucii Brešovou and Skinners.

These startups competed for supremacy with other 9 countries across Europe. In Slovenia, the Czechs managed to win a gold position in two categories!     The Club of Investors in cooperation with the Endowment Fund Start It Up! and international competition Best of X, invites you to a great startups panel discussion, where you can enjoy performances of four investment professionals and three successful startups - Lumitrix, Sewio and Skinners.

    The third most successful start-up in the history of Crowdfunding is a finalist in the Best of X - Czech Republic

    The third winner of the start-up competition, Best of X - Czech Republic, the company Skinners, has built a solid position in the market after participating in finals of the competition. The original idea focusing on special shoes that can be rolled up like socks attracted wide public and investors.

    Finals of the competition, organized by the Start It Up!, Endowment Fund, took place in March this year in Bethlehem Chapel, Prague. By participating and winning third place in the Best of X - Czech Republic competition, the start-up company Skinners greatly highlighted itself, and thus gained investors and contributors for the development of its business. Thanks to the campaign, a total amount of USD 654,500.00 has been collected, which ranks this campaign in the third position of the most successful crowdfundings in the Czech Republic. By highlighting its business plan, Skinners managed to collect six times the amount originally requested. The company’s business continues to move in a positive direction and recently the distribution is being prepared to various chains with outdoor and hiking equipment both in the Czech Republic and abroad.


    START IT UP !, endowment fund is a partner of "Competition of student projects"

    Endowment fund Start it up! will become a partner of "Competitions of student projects", organized by the University of Economics. The competition is supported by the Club of small and medium entrepreneurs, under the leadership of doc. Ing. Jitka Srpová, PhD. Students will present their ideas and business plans before a professional jury. Start it Up! Endowment fund, will reward the three main winners. We will give them the vouchers, which they can use for free for consulting services about entrepreneurship. The effort of endowment fund is to help the new entrepreneurs in their initial business phase.



    Start it Up!, Endowment Fund accepted the challenge to organize an international event to support the start-up environment, which under the title „Best of X“ took place only in selected German destinations until now. Endowment Fund was granted a license to organize this event in the region of the Czech Republic under the title BEST OF X - CZECH REPUBLIC, which was held already on 3rd March 2016 in the premises of the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague, provided for by the Czech University of Technology.

    Expert partners from the Czech start-up environment ( nominated a broad portfolio of young Czech firms with high business and technology potential. International ambassadors ( selected eight projects from the group of nominees, and the public had the opportunity to vote on two other projects to classify into the final.

    The highlight of the event was the so-called Pitch Day / BEST OF X - CZECH REPUBLIC, where the 10 finalists competed for the victory before the jury. In Addition to awards, winners received a unique opportunity to connect their projects with the industry, investors, incubators and other institutions to support the start-up environment in the Czech Republic, which is the main objective of this event. Finally, the jury was most interested in the idea of company Sewio, how to monitor the movement of people and objects in indoor and outdoor areas. With regard to very high accuracy of monitoring of up to 30 cm, it is primarily aimed at increasing the safety and optimizing logistics within large manufacturing plants. LumiTRIX ranked second and Skinners ranked third. The partner of competition, ČSOB bank rewarded Angee by a special prize.

    The winning projects can thus look forward to the interest of investors. In 2015, the founders already received from them 1 million USD to develop the project.

    The elite start-up competition BEST OF X allows finalists an unusually rapid development and growth of their companies. More than 60 % of start-up participants received the significant funding within 12 months after the competition, and obtained support of international venture capital investors or business angels, who were the evaluating ambassadors of the competition. The best projects will continue on to the international start-up competition “BEST OF CEBIT OF BEST OF X”, which will be held in Hannover at the European technology fair - CeBIT 2016.

    Start it UP! Endowment Fund co-organized one of the most prestigious events to support start-up projects - TÝDEN PODNIKÁNÍ 2015 (Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015). The endowment fund was behind the whole event as a professional partner.     On 18.11.2015, the PITCH DAY Start It Up! 2015 took place – at which youth projects competed for the primacy to be the most promising start-up of the Czech Republic. START IT UP! Endowment Fund nominated the TOP 100 start-up projects, and the expert commission selected to shortlist the TOP 10 + 2 “Wild Cards”, which were given the opportunity to present their project to the expert committee at the Pitch Day.

    Winning projects
    TeskaLabs, dealing with the security of mobile applications and their communication with corporate systems, reached the highest score from experts. Reservio, web service developers to easily create reservation system, ranked second. Virtubio, that created the tool simulating the possible working conditions already during an interview, was third. Visitors of the Summit of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 decided on the viewer award in the order Virtubio, Reservio, TeskaLabs.

    Partners of the PITCH DAY START IT UP! 2015:

    The Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 was not only a good networking or excellent workshops, but also the possibility to engage in discussions about the future support for start-up companies from the state. On 19th November, 2015, within the Global Entrepreneurship Week, Start it UP! Endowment Fund and Elai a panel discussion on the theme: “We need or do not need? Or… how much state money is needed for the rapid growth of the ecosystem for start-ups?” Experts from Germany and Israel discussed this issue with representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry responsible for the national innovation fund. Experts appreciated the plans of the Ministry, nevertheless warned before risks and pitfalls of such solutions according to their own experience. The main purpose of the panel discussion was to discuss this issue with the international scientific community. For example, how the structure should look like and into what the Czech National Innovation Fund (NIF) should invest? What else the Czech Republic needs in order to effectively support the rapid growth of the ecosystem for start-up companies. The panel discussion was attended by Petr Očko of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ruth Cremer from the German Hightech Gruenderfond as a state initiative in the field of venture capital, Marius Weber from the German incubator Rheingau Founders, Jacob Fass of Israel, as an expert for building a Seed Fond for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Petr Škoda from KPMG and Michael Broda from the Start it Up! Endowment Fund of the Czech Republic.


    The Scientific Committee of the 2016 University-Industry Interaction Conference (UUIN)
    Martina Jakl (Chair of the Board of START IT UP! Endowment Fund) will also participate in this year’s UIIN conference on the theme “Challenges and solutions to support entrepreneurial universities and their environment”. This year’s event will be held in Amsterdam, in one of the most entrepreneurial regions in Europe. START IT UP!! Endowment Fund will be a member of the Scientific Committee.


    On 13th August, 2015, START IT UP! Endowment Fund sat on the jury at a joint event of ICT Alliance and MSD IT - Czech ICT Pitch night. Michal Vodrážka, a coach, was a juror on behalf of the endowment fund.


    In June, START IT UP! Endowment Fund participated in HEPtech Symposium. HEPTech is a network of technology transfer centers, astro-particles, energy and nuclear physics.
    This network aims to link the relevant cooperation between research and industry. ( The coach of Start IT UP!, Michal Vodrážka, contributed to the TOP 10 tips for dealing with investors and sat in the Jury evaluation committee.


    The coach of START IT UP!, Michal Vodrážka, sat on Jury at the Pitch day of the Endowment Fund Start up boot camp (the largest Dutch accelerator with international operations) on 14th May, 2015.


    On 14th April, 2015, the Transfer of Technology Conference was held in České Budějovice (, where START IT UP! Endowment Fund contributed by its lecture on Building an Ecosystem for Commercialization: the Experience of Switzerland and the Czech Republic.


    ELAI and START IT UP! Endowment Fund co-organized an event within the Global Enterpreneurship Week – GEW.
    A jury consisting of Czech and German investors announced Liftago as the most promising Czech start-up company for the year 2014.
